AT&T's iPhone MMS Service is Live

AT&T has finally brough MMS functionality to the iPhone. Insiders involved in the launch tell Broadband Reports AT&T expects usage to surge on their network today to the tune of 40%, as users tinker with the new functionality. AT&T's announced the launch over at the Facebook page, which notes MMS will only work for iPhone 3G and iPhone 3GS users, but not for original iPhone users: To enable MMS messaging, connect your iPhone to your computer and click “Check for Update” in iTunes. Once the update is completed, restart your iPhone by turning it off then on again. Note that iPhone OS 3.1 is required so you may need to update your software first. NOTE: MMS messaging is only available for iPhone 3G and iPhone 3GS. Original iPhone customers will continue to use www.viewmymessage.com to receive picture SMS/MMS bundle pricing does not change: AT&T's $20 unlimited, 1500 for $15 or 200 for $5 still applies. Note that if you aren't signed up for a bundle SMS/MMS plan, you'll pay thirty cents to both send and receive video or picture messages, up from the twenty cents you'll pay just to send or receive a text message.
